Tag Heuer Monaco Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Limited Edition

Tag Heuer has long had a close association with the world of motorsport in all shapes and forms, from the high-octane world of Formula 1 to the electric-powered Formula E. Complementing its position as the Official Watch of the Monaco Grand Prix and the Official Watch Partner of the Monaco Top Cars Collection museum, it is also the Official Sponsor and Timekeeper of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, a famous fixture on the classic-car racing calendar.

While the popular weekend, originally scheduled to take place from 8-10 May, has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, plans are underway for the next edition, at which Tag Heuer will present a special tributary timepiece to mark the event. For those who can’t wait until then, the watch will be available for pre-orders on the watchmaker’s website and in select boutiques before its launch on 27 July.

The Tag Heuer Monaco Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Limited Edition is the latest addition to the iconic Monaco line, first introduced in 1969 by Jack Heuer in honour of the famous Formula 1 race. It is instantly recognisable by its bold square dial, here decked out in an eye-catching red-and-white colour scheme in a nod to the golden era of vintage sports cars, while the sporty look continues with a perforated strap made of fine-grain black leather.

The watch is powered by the in-house Calibre Heuer 2, comprising 168 individual components and offering an impressive power reserve of 80 hours. It can be viewed to full effect through the transparent sapphire glass caseback, which features the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique logo printed on the inside. In a fitting final flourish, the watch – limited to 1,000 pieces – comes presented in a red box decorated with a chequered racing flag.
