Girard-Perregaux proves the timeless nature of its Laureato with a sleek and modern new take in green

When it launched in 1975, Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato tapped into the innovative spirit that was sweeping through the horological design of the era. Rethinking traditional notions of what makes a luxury watch, precious materials were eschewed in favour of stainless steel, soft silhouettes were replaced with geometric forms, and the lines between sporty and smart became increasingly blurred.

The Laureato is one of the finest examples of this aesthetic, and one that remains just as contemporary almost half a century on. This is in no small part down to the attention to detail that has gone into its construction. In particular, its distinctive form deftly blends an angular octagonal bezel with its pebble-shaped case, this interplay of contrasts continuing with the combination of polished and satin-brushed finishes.

Its latest release reinforces this timeless look with a fresh new dial in green, a colour that shows no signs of diminishing in popularity. Adding to its richness is the intricate Clous de Paris pattern, paired with a black flange to the exterior for a modern look. Instead of the quartz movement of the original, it comes powered by the precise self-winding Calibre GP01800, similarly finished with the same exacting detail. This new watch will be available exclusively through retailer Wempe throughout November, before being available through all authorised Girard-Perregaux outlets.
