Tissot updates its 1970s-inspired PRX family with new designs ranging from sporty chronographs to luxe gold models

Last year saw Tissot revive one of its most distinctive watches of the 1970s – the PRX. The versatile timepiece, with its sleek steel bracelet, tapped into the sports-chic aesthetic that defined much of the era’s horology and has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years.

Now the watchmaker has expanded the family with a trio of new designs, bringing technical new takes and a more unisex appeal. On the luxe end is a statement 40mm version that contrasts the stainless-steel case and bracelet with an 18ct rose-gold fluted bezel, available with a choice of blue or brown sunray dial. It comes powered by some of Tissot’s most reliable timekeeping in the form of the automatic Powermatic 80 calibre, offering an 80-hour power reserve and fitted with a Nivachron balance hairspring that enhances the movement’s precision thanks to its anti-magnetic properties.

Upping the functionality of the collection is the PRX Automatic Chronograph. This is the first time this handy timing feature has been introduced, as the PRX was previously available only in time and date versions. The chronograph is powered by a trusty Valjoux A05.H31 calibre, and displayed on contrasting subdials.

For the fashion-conscious, a final range sees the PRX slimmed down into a svelte and wearable 35mm case size. These quartz models are presented in a steel design with dials in stylish silver, blue, green and light-blue hues, as well as a pleasingly retro take that goes all-out with yellow-gold PVD case and bracelet, and matching coloured dial.
