Motoring ahead: TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition

TAG Heuer pays tribute to a legend of motor racing with the high-octane Formula 1 Senna Special Edition

Thirty years ago, Aryton Senna made history as the youngest Formula 1 driver to win three world championships. The natural partner for TAG Heuer’s precise motoring timekeeping, he became an ambassador in 1988, and to this day the watchmaker continues to honour his legacy in fitting style with timepieces that are every bit as bold and daring as his performance on the track.

The Formula 1 Senna Special Edition is no exception, complete with a number of special touches that nod to this shared past. This particularly comes through in the black leather bracelet, embossed with a pattern that referenced the S-shaped links of the S/EL bracelet Senna wore on his TAG Heuer watch.

Its striking colour scheme echoes Senna’s signature colours, with yellow highlights across the bezel, counters and strap in an eye-catching contrast to the black dial. Meanwhile, his signature ‘double S’ logo takes pride of place at the centre of the 6 o’clock subdial. As well as the number ‘400’ engraved on the bezel, in reference to the 400 km/h speed that has never been reached in Formula 1, the caseback is engraved with the Brazilian driver’s element and the worlds ‘Senna Special Edition’.
