The music icon and champagne house have come together in a colourful, hyper-creative collaboration that promises to be an artistic force for good

As the world gets used to the idea of celebrating for the first time in a long time, a collaboration between the world’s most artistic pop star and the world’s most iconic champagne brand is here to help. Lady Gaga and Dom Pérignon have joined forces to create colourful, bold and creative film and imagery, limited-edition bottles of rose champagne and a sculpture designed by the pop star.

Dom Pérignon’s creativity dates back to its foundation in the late 17th or early 18th century as one of the formative champagne expressions. It is said that when Benedictine monk Dom Pérignon first tried his champagne he cried ‘come quickly, I am tasting the stars!’ and the appreciation of the beauty of creation has continued ever since.

The Gaga-designed sculpture comprises a limited-edition jeroboam of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2005 champagne intriguingly draped in an iridescent pink veil. A limited-edition of 110 of these sculptures will be displayed worldwide and then sold with profits going to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the mental health of younger people and promoting kindness.

The imagery created for the collaboration was created with legendary British filmmaker and photographer, Nick Knight. The result is a dazzling array of uplifting visuals called The Queendom, which shows just what can happen when people are given creative freedom. ‘My desire was to create a burst of positive fantasy – a beautiful world that exists only in people’s imaginations. Fantasy is such an important part of our lives; it makes us dream and fuels our creativity. And right now, the world needs celebration. I wanted to create something which would touch people across many different cultures, for its joie de vivre, its energy, its rush of fantasy and celebratory visions,’ Knight says.

This radical collaboration is set to continue. Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga will be working on creative projects for the next two years, including the release of a limited edition of Vintage 2010 and Rosé 2006 in specially created cases. Something to celebrate, indeed.
