TAG Heuer first unveiled the Carrera Heuer 02T in 2016, a contemporary take on its classic racing watch with a daring haute horlogerie twist. Sleek and stylish, it came fitted with a COSC-certified self-winding chronograph movement with a flying tourbillon.

This presented its own unique challenge to the company’s watchmakers at its La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture, fitting this challenging complication alongside the watch’s chronograph functions in a movement just 31mm in diameter. The result was an ultra-precise watch beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, incorporating an ultra-light carbon and titanium tourbillon cage while maintaining the balanced dial design that has made the Carrera such an enduring favourite with collectors.

For 2021, it has updated the timepiece with the release of a limited edition of 250 pieces that features a number of design firsts. It makes its debut in blue, with a bold sunray dial and matching hued ceramic tachymetric bezel, along with a number of subtle details. These include the coloured rubber that protects the crown and push button right down to finishing on the movement, including the bridges of the tourbillon cage and the oscillating mass, which has been given a PVD coating.

The grade 2 titanium case has also been paired with a matching metal bracelet for the first time, which not only enhances the sporty feel of the watch but adds lightweight and ergonomic properties to ensure optimal comfort on the wrist.
