Bremont celebrates the 60th anniversary of Jaguar’s E-type in style with a very special box set

When Jaguar unveiled its E-type at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 it was an instant hit. The sleek sportscar’s 265 brake horsepower and 3.8 litre straight-six engine gave it an impressive top speed of over 150 mph, all at half the price of Aston Martin or Ferrari. It was such a showstopper that on release, Enzo Ferrari famously declared it ‘the most beautiful car ever made’, speaking to its enduring appeal that continues even as it celebrates its 60th year.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, Bremont has created a special limited-edition box-set that is every bit as handsome and well crafted as the motoring icon. This collaboration is the latest in a partnership between the two British companies that dates back more than a decade, when the watchmaker developed a unique analogue dashboard clock for the launch of the Jaguar C-X75 in 2010.

The 43mm Bremont E-type Jaguar watches come in a choice of two shades, with 60 pieces available in grey and 60 in green, each with a black dial inspired by the E-type’s instrument gauges. Meanwhile, the bezel and strap colours have been designed to match the pantones of ‘Flat Out Grey’ and ‘Drop Everything Green’ found on the Jaguar’s new E-type 60 Edition cars.

And the motoring references don’t stop there. The case is crafted with Bremont’s three-piece ‘Trip-Tick’ construction, and features lugs and a winding crown engraved with the pattern of the period-correct Dunlop racing tyres fitted to the E-type. Meanwhile, the sapphire-crystal caseback reveals a winding rotor decorated to mimic an alloy-spoked E-type steering wheel.

Upping the appeal for motoring connoisseurs even further is the inclusion in the box-set of Bremont’s first-ever rally timer. This distinguished piece of timekeeping can be displayed on a desk or even fitted into a customer’s car, and features a stopwatch with a tachymeter on the left along with a clock with sub-seconds on the right. And in a fitting final touch, each lucky owner will be treated to a unique driving experience hosted by Jaguar Classic where they can take the wheel of three classic E-types at Jaguar’s Fen End facility.
