The Deck: dealing out the first women-only tailoring house

How former journalist Daisy Knatchbull launched a new first on Savile Row

The female tailored suit no longer raises eyebrows in the way it did when YSL shattered conventions in the 1960s, but it still makes a statement. After all, it was only this year that Savile Row welcomed its first shop front exclusively for women.

The Deck is a female-only tailoring house founded in 2019 by former fashion journalist Daisy Knatchbull. In what Knatchbull called a ‘fantastic opportunity to start a new venture’, the tailor opened the 3,000 sq ft space at 19 Savile Row this autumn with a focus on creating modern suiting for women with a made-to-measure service based on four timeless styles.

These signature silhouettes are fully customisable, with a choice of more than 7,000 high-quality cloths and unique finishing touches, such as bespoke lining, buttons and monogramming.
