Audemars Piguet’s iconic Royal Oak gets a futuristic update in eye-catching blue and grey

Audemars Piguet launched the Royal Oak Concept line in 2002 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its most recognisable and best-known watch. Ever since it has used it as a showcase of its cutting-edge haute horlogerie, blending innovative use of materials and watchmaking with timeless design.

This latest addition to the family continues in this tradition with a sleek and contemporary take on its Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT. Its modern look is a result of the combination of angular sandblasted grey ceramic bezel, contrasted with stunning effect with bursts of bright blue on the bridges of the openworked dial.

The design also allows for close inspection of the accomplished Manufacture Calibre 2954, which offers an impressive 10-hour power reserve. Taking pride of position is the flying tourbillon at 9 o’clock, while the second time zone is easily read via the indicator at 3 o’clock. The look is completed with a complementary blue rubber strap, while the timepiece is also supplied with a pared-back secondary black rubber option.
