The Bugatti Chiron has broken the 300mph speed barrier
A motoring milestone has been reached with Bugatti’s barnstorming Chiron breaking the 300mph speed barrier. It’s huge for what’s essentially a production road car, but anyone who has sat behind the wheel of this beast sensed it always had the potential.
The limiting factor was its tyres. Michelin managed to solve the engineering puzzle, and test driver Andy Wallace put on his brave hat and took the Chiron, shod with four shiny new shoes, to a world record 304.773mph.
