All-time high: 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

One of the 36 1962 Ferrari 250 GTOs was just sold at the RM Sotheby’s sale for an all-time high price

A global auction record was reached for an automobile in late August when a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO made $48.4 million at the annual RM Sotheby’s sale in Monterey, California. The 250 GTO is the holy grail of the classic car market and this car’s particular provenance included two wins at Palermo’s historic Targa Florio race. Only 36 were made and all are still on the road. Sadly all owners seem well aware of their worth.
