Oenophiles in search of a serene autumn break will be pleased to hear that the restored 12th-century Cistercian Abbey, Abbaye de la Bussière in Burgundy’s wine region, has just launched its own wine cellar.

As well as sampling the best of local wines at the chateau’s Michelin-starred restaurant, The 1131 (alongside food from chef Guillaume Royer), guests will be able to buy a bottle for themselves. Set in 17 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland next to the Burgundy canal, the luxury 20-room hotel is just a short drive from the Cote d’Or vineyards.
