A new exhibition at the Design Museum goes behind the scenes of Italy’s most iconic car brand, Ferrari

A major new exhibition Ferrari: Under the Skin opens at the Design Museum today, celebrating 70 years of Italy’s most iconic automobiles. The installation traces the marque’s origins back to the launch of its first car – the 125 S built in 1947 – and explores founder Enzo Ferrari’s early life in wartime Italy and how his obsession with motor racing fueled a lifelong passion for engineering.

From early hand-sketched designs to the latest high-tech innovations, the exhibition offers an unprecedented insight into what makes Ferrari such an enduring symbol of excellence. Meticulous craftsmanship, precision engineering, beauty, speed and glamour converge to paint a compelling picture of Ferrari’s legacy as a design icon of the past, present and future.

Ferrari: Under the Skin at the Design Museum runs until 15 April 2018; designmuseum.org
