For those with an all-around adventurous lifestyle, picking the perfect watch can be something of a minefield. Of course, you want something robust, able to cope with shocks and scratches beyond the normal day-to-day wear. A high-performance pilot’s watch will tick these boxes, offering excellent legibility and clean and clear design. But should you also wish to head out on a deep-sea dive, can it deliver the water resistance required? And, importantly, it must look just as good on land.
This is where Breitling’s Avenger Seawolf comes in. From the Superocean to the Navitimer, the watchmaker’s credentials at both sea and in the air have been well-proven over the decades. This model takes it to a new extreme, with a high-performance, technical timepiece that combines style and substance.
A new UK exclusive, limited to 350 pieces, comes with a pared-back black dial, its sturdy 45mm steel case matched with a complementary metal bracelet or sporty rubber strap. Like its counterparts in the Avenger collection, it has been conceived with ease of use in an airplane’s cockpit in mind, from its easily readable dial right down to the bezel and special grip-pattern on the crown, which can be used while wearing gloves. Impressively, it incorporates a water resistance of up to 3,000 metres, above and beyond that of many diving watches.
