Czapek Place Vendôme Tourbillon 'Dark Matter'

Today Paris’s Place Vendôme is home to some of finest names in watchmaking, and it has long held a central place at the heart of horological history. It is this grand location where, in the mid-19th century, entrepreneurial François Czapek set up shop to showcase his master watchmaking, establishing what would become regarded as one of the first haute horlogerie boutiques on the famous square.

It is this legacy that inspired a family of watches of the same name from Czapek – a collection of suspended tourbillon timepieces that showcase the same commitment to innovation and precision demonstrated by the company’s founder centuries ago. The Place Vendôme line first launched in 2017 with two models in platinum and red gold, and is now joined by an eye-catching all-black model equipped with a GMT function and day/night indication in the second time zone, as well as a power reserve display.

The timepiece draws from expertise and design found in other key pieces across Czapek’s collections. These include the Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph, a unique piece donated to the Only Watch charity auction, from which it borrows its contemporary black ADLC coating on the case. Meanwhile, the bridges of the new watch have been treated with PVD coating applied by the same company that makes the blued gold fleur-de-lys hands in Czapek’s Quai de Bergues collection. The watch is limited to just 10 pieces, available at the brand’s authorised retailers and directly from its website.
