Watchmaking can often be a rather serious business – and particularly when it comes to the technical world of diving watches. However, for the majority of us who aren’t about to head out deep-sea diving, but still need a fun and fashionable timepiece that can survive a day at the beach, Oris’s latest collection is sure to raise a smile.
Last year saw its Divers Sixty-Five range get a dreamy pastel makeover with dials in playful and sunny shades of sky blue, candy pink and mint green. Adding to their vibrant nature is the 38mm case made of bronze, a material at home in the nautical world. As well as its unusual colour and sheen, it also develops a natural patina as it ages, lending a unique look that adapts according to the wearer’s lifestyle.
For 2022, these impactful designs have been taken up a notch with the addition of complementary coloured recycled Perlon straps. Beyond its eco credentials, the fabric brings a tactile and comfortable feel to the watches, each of which is powered by the automatic Oris 733 movement, with a 38-hour power reserve. And as we make the most of the last days of summer, its water-resistance of 100 metres makes it the perfect choice for relaxing by the pool.
