Diving watches have come a long way since they were first developed for military operations. While, yes, you’d still expect them to have a good enough water resistance should you take them out to sea, it is perhaps now even more important that they look stylish on land. This is something Tissot understands well with its new Seastar collection, a versatile new range of watches that delivers for different tastes without compromising on performance.
For slimmer wrists, there’s the 36mm Seastar 1000 Quartz, which focuses on fashionable elements such as the shimmer-effect blue, black or white dials, complemented with yellow-gold or silver details. It’s presented on a metal bracelet, or you can add a dash of colour with vibrantly hued silicone straps in shades such as orange and blue. Despite the playful package, it comes with a water resistance of 300 metres, as well as a unidirectional bezel for timing dives.
Even more technical is the Seastar 2000 Professional Powermatic 80. As well as its larger case size – a chunky 46mm – it delivers big with its timekeeping, equipped with the anti-magnetic Powermatic 80 automatic movement. The timepiece more than meets the ISO 6425 standard for diving watches, including a considerable 600-metre water resistance, ceramic unidirectional bezel and screw-down crown. Available with a steel case or black PVD-coated options, the dials come in blue or black gradient designs in a wave motif to complete the marine-inspired feel.
