In recent years, steel has taken the spotlight, but there’s no material that lends as much of a luxe edge and classic feel to a timepiece as gold. This precious material is being celebrated by Bulgari in its latest collections, tapping into the watchmaker and jeweller’s glamorous spirit and bold Italian roots, yet bringing a fresh point of view to its use. And there’s no better display of this than the new Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days, a showcase of some of the company’s finest haute horlogerie.
The Octo Finissimo collection has long housed some of Bulgari’s most innovative and technical timepieces, and this latest model is no exception. It’s powered by a new hand-wound manufacture movement, the calibre BVL 199 SK, endowed with an impressive eight-day power reserve. Its skeletonised design means that the architecture of the movement is essential to create a harmonious final look, mixing strong lines and contrasting finishes to stunning effect.
This modern aesthetic is the perfect companion to its angular case in rose gold, with its instantly recognisable octagonal bezel, satin-finished to play with the light. Paired with a refined brown alligator strap it is both a classic, yet thoroughly contemporary, addition to the ever-inventive range.
