Shine bright: Bell & Ross BR 05 Horolum

Bell & Ross makes use of powerful Super-LumiNova for a contemporary new limited edition

Watches & Jewellery 14 Dec 2021

Bell & Ross’ distinctive timepieces, with their ‘circle-in-a-square’ silhouette, take their cues from the technical flight instruments found in the cockpits of aeroplanes. But when the house launched the BR 03-92 Horolum in 2017, it drew further inspiration from another essential element of the aviation experience – the lights used to illuminate runways and safely guide these aircraft to the ground. This came in the form of the use of a particularly powerful type of Super-LumiNova coating, C5, that shines an intense green when plunged into darkness.

Now the series has been reworked in the new BR 05 Horolum, shining just as bright and with some updated aesthetic touches to bring it a new contemporary edge. The brand’s iconic case is presented in stainless steel that has been given a bead-blasted finish, lending a modern, matt look. This extends to the integrated metal bracelet, building on the architectural, clean lines of the watch. And of course, it makes copious use of Super-LumiNova C5 across the indices and hands, ensuring optimal legibility whatever the conditions.

Flip the watch over to admire the inner workings of the automatic CAL.321 movement, which features an unusually shaped oscillating weight inspired by the wheel rims on sports cars. Limited to just 250, the BR 05 Horolum is available exclusively at Bell & Ross’ boutiques worldwide and e-boutiques.
