Panerai Luminor GMT Bucherer Blue

This year, Panerai is celebrating 70 years of its iconic dive watch, the Luminor. Even before its introduction, the watchmaker had long been entrusted by the Royal Italian Navy to create high-precision instruments that would survive challenging underwater pursuits. With the Luminor, it replaced the radium-based paste used to illuminate their dials with an innovative new substance that offered incredible legibility in even the harshest of conditions.

For its latest take on this famous timepiece, Panerai has once again partnered with luxury retailer Bucherer to create a special limited edition. When plunged into darkness it glows in an eye-catching electric blue hue, reflecting the signature colour of the Bucherer Blue family, a collection of special timepieces created with some of the finest watchmakers. It also speaks to Panerai’s own maritime heritage and connection with the ocean, which it expresses through sustainability initiatives including developing environmentally friendly products through its Panerai Ecologio label. The results can be seen in this timepiece, which comes on a strap made from recycled PET bottles and presented in a recycled ABS packaging shell.

The blue highlights extend across the small seconds and GMT hand and the stitching on the strap, as well as the rubberized blue crown, a feature exclusive to this watch. Meanwhile, a special finishing touch comes on the caseback, denoting the number of this limited edition of just 288 pieces.
