Certina marks its ongoing partnership with the Sea Turtle Conservancy with a sustainable new diving watch

Certina has long been associated with the motif of a turtle, introduced by the brand in 1959 as a nod to the hardy nature and longevity of its timepieces. In recent years, it has deepened its connection with the animal further still, and since 2017 has supported the efforts of the Sea Turtle Conservancy in preserving the future of these sea creatures. Its latest watch is dedicated to this partnership, as well as reinforcing Certina’s wider focus on working towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future.

The DS Action Diver Sea Turtle Conservancy is equipped with everything you need for deep-sea adventures, reinforced by adhering to all the requirements specified by ISO standard 6425, a benchmark for diving watches. This includes a water resistance of 300 metres, achieved through its screw-down and protected crown. The sporty timepiece comes with a blue dial, matching unidirectional rotating bezel, contrasted with a gold coloured dive scale, while the hands are coated in Super-LumiNova to ensure good legibility even in challenging underwater conditions.

It comes powered by Certina’s automatic Powermatic movement, offering a lengthy power reserve of 80 hours. Enhancing its precision is the Nivachron balance spring, which is unaffected by the effect of magnetic fields on traditional timekeeping elements. Fittingly for this special piece, for the first time Certina has used completely recyclable materials for the box, as well as bio-cotton and recycled polyester for the cushion.
