Panerai Luminor Blu Mare – 44mm

Panerai once again builds on its rich marine heritage with the release of the Luminor Blu Mare – 44mm (‘blue sea’ in English), a sophisticated new take on its iconic diver’s watch.

The sporty-yet-elegant piece combines a blue dial enhanced by the satiné soleil decorating technique, which lends a contemporary feel when combined with the sleek, angular lines of the case. The latter is constructed from AISI 316L steel, a high-performance material chosen for its resistance to corrosion.

Subtle nods to Panerai’s past come through in design details such as the typeface of the numerals, a reference to models dating back to the end of the 20th century. These have been etched and filled with green Super-LumiNova, ensuring the watch offers legibility in low-light conditions, an essential feature of any serious diver’s timepiece. In the 6 o’clock position is the double arrow ‘OP’ motif, a stylised version of Panerai’s logo that dates back to the 1980s.

Beyond its handsome looks, it offers everything you’d expect from the watchmaker’s high-end timekeeping. Water resistant to 100 metres, the Luminor Blu Mare is powered by the Calibre P.6000, designed and developed in-house at Panerai’s manufacture in Neuchâtel. The movement is extremely precise, reliable and secure, thanks to features including the twin bridges supporting the regulator and its Incabloc shock proof device. The watch is finished with a calfskin strap in blue, which can be easily changed for the additional blue rubber strap, ideal for more active pursuits.
