Two pioneering German brands have just launched a capsule collection comprising bold accessories and apparel. RUF Automobile manufactures powerful cars and automotives, while Highsnobiety is a media brand championing the best of modern culture, style and tech. With a new timepiece, this partnership has now extended to the Bamford Watch Department, which provides full personalisation of luxury watches, to produce the collection’s irrefutable standout.

Limited to 100 pieces, the TAG Heuer Carrera x Bamford x RUF x Highsnobiety is an automatic chronograph whose unique appearance was inspired by the predominantly green, yellow, and white palette in which RUF produces its distinctive vehicles. The main partners’ logos and the hands of two sub-dials are vividly yellow, exploding against a dark green dial. Meanwhile, harmonious with white baton indexes in a symmetrical configuration are marks of the other partners. Collaborators’ logos are less conspicuously marked on the sapphire-crystal display caseback, so that one may easily admire a movement whose light colours include the rose gold of its skeleton rotor.

In displaying the highly reliable Calibre Heuer 02, the caseback transparently alludes to the history of high performance behind this chronograph, underpinned by Porsche. Since the relationship between RUF and Porsche has historically yielded high-performance results, the former is a pertinent collaborator in producing this sporty version of the TAG Heuer Carrera. And the Carrera is tied to the Porsche Carrera through their common etymological ancestor, the notoriously dangerous Carrera Panamericana race of the 1950s.

Further befitting its sporty appearance and heritage, the watch has a water resistance of 100m. And akin to one of RUF’s cars being gracefully manoeuvred around a racing circuit, the seconds hand circles the dial with a tip decorated with racing stripes. The racing stripes also hint at the remarkable speeds achieved by RUF models like the CTR Yellowbird, the fastest production car at the time of its release.
