In his memoirs, Christian Dior confided that ‘dresses are everything to me’. Certainly there are few things that can match the elegance and charm of an intricately embellished Dior ball gown, with nipped-in waist and beautiful full skirt that moves effortlessly with its wearer. It is this sense of movement, finesse and poise that the fashion house has successfully recreated in its Grand Bal timepiece collection, which applies its haute couture expertise to the world of horology.
They swirl captivatingly just like those gowns thanks to the ingenious Dior Inversé movement, which places the oscillating weight that drives the timepiece on the top of the dial. This is adorned with decorations taking inspiration from the maison’s high fashion pieces, from silk to feathers and gems.
With the Grand Bal collection, Dior presents two new additions to the line, each featuring a diamond-set knot-shaped design that moves hypnotically across the dial. A blue-dialled version – delicately set with pink-gold threads – features a pink-gold bezel set with round-cut diamonds and is presented on a sophisticated blue velvet strap. Meanwhile, a pastel-hued model, limited to just 18 pieces, is adorned with white and pink feather marquetry, complemented by a white velvet strap.
