Green thinking: Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Green

Bell & Ross expands its contemporary BR 05 family with a new skeletonised timepiece presented in green

Bell & Ross challenged the typical design notions of a watch when it released the BR 01. Taking inspiration from the precision instruments found in the cockpits of planes, it brought a utilitarian and practical point of view while forging its own unique aesthetic that has been echoed in many of the watchmaker’s creations since. This is particularly down to its distinctive silhouette, with its round-in-a-square shape with four industrial-style screws visible in the corners of the case.

The BR 05 is a sleek extension of this look, its elegant curves making it a sophisticated choice whether at the helm of the flight controls or simply heading to a business meeting. The latest addition to the family, a handsome skeletonised version in green, adds to its fashion-forward nature, while simultaneously showcasing the precision Bell & Ross timekeeping that lies at the heart of its timepieces.

For the BR 05 Skeleton Green, the watchmaker’s experts have painstakingly cut out materials to reveal the inner workings of the BR-CAL-322 calibre to full effect on the dial. Meanwhile, around the outer flange lie large indexes, ensuring the time is clear and legible. The entire dial has been covered with a green-tinted sapphire crystal, not only offering protection but lending an intriguing hue to the mechanism beneath.

The movement can be inspected to even more detail via the clear caseback, allowing a view of the oscillating weight, featuring a design inspired by a sports car wheel trim. Limited to 500 pieces, the watch comes on a sporty green rubber strap as well as a slightly dressier integrated metal bracelet.
