With its Bucherer Blue collection, the watch retailer brings together some of the most covetable timepieces and gives them a colourful and collectable twist. The latest brand to get a blue-hued makeover is Ulysse Nardin with its high-tech Freak X, adding to the contemporary look of this modern piece of haute horology.
The bold Freak X has no dial and no hands, instead displaying the time via its innovative movement. The central bridge acts as the minute hands while one of the wheels indicates the hours, here highlighted with flashes of vivid blue along with the indexes and gear train at 6 o’clock.
The futuristic feel continues to the construction of the case, made from carbonium, a carbon composite that is commonly found in the fuselage and wings of modern aircraft. Despite its lightweight properties, the material is incredibly robust and resilient. It is also comes with some serious sustainability credentials, offering 40 per cent less environmental impact when compared to other composites thanks to being made from discarded materials from the aviation industry.
