Hublot Classic Fusion 40 Years Anniversary

While 40 is a milestone age for many, in the venerable world of watch brands it is merely teenage territory. However, as Hublot proves as it reaches this landmark birthday, it’s old enough to leave an indelible mark on the industry, with plenty of room for further innovation to come.

And in its trademark style, the watchmaker is celebrating in style with a new timepiece that pays tribute to its very beginnings. Founded by the entrepreneurial Carlo Crocco, Hublot takes its name from the French word for ‘porthole’, an influence that is seen in its iconic designs. And from the very start, in 1980, the brand was breaking horological ground, presenting a bold timepiece that paired sophisticated gold with a casual and sporty rubber strap. With this, its signature ‘Fusion’ concept was born, which to this day continues to influence its creations, particularly when it comes to its pioneering use of materials.

The new Classic Fusion 40 Years Anniversary reinterprets this first watch in a contemporary 45mm model equipped with the mechanical Hublot HUB1112 movement. Channelling the sleek look of the original, it features a clean, black dial punctuated only by faceted hands and Hublot’s logos. The watch comes in three version – yellow gold, titanium and black ceramic – which, just like the original, are paired with a rubber strap, here easily adjustable and fitted with a triple deployment clasp for added comfort.
