The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled the latest edition to its beloved, vintage-inspired watch line in a striking all-burgundy colourway that, for the first time, carries Master Chronometer certification.
The name “58” nods to 1958, the year Tudor released its first dive watch waterproof to 200 metres – the reference 7924, better known as the “Big Crown”. The new Black Bay 58 Burgundy stays true to those proportions with a 39mm stainless-steel case and slim profile, while introducing subtle design details pulled from a little-known prototype Submariner, the reference 79190, developed in the 1990s. That watch, featuring a burgundy bezel and dial, was shelved before production – until now, making this model a blend of two legendary, rarely seen chapters in Tudor’s dive watch history.Fans will recognise the deep-red shade on the Black Bay 58 Burgundy as a familiar signature for Tudor. The brand used burgundy accents when it reintroduced the Black Bay line in 2012, producing a hit model with a burgundy bezel.
The colour also appears on its version of a GMT. This launch is also the first in the family to achieve Metas Master Chronometer certification, one of the industry’s most demanding standards. Earning the Metas seal means the watch meets strict criteria for performance and precision – qualities critical for any professional-grade diving watch. The Black Bay 58 Burgundy has passed rigorous tests for magnetic and water resistance, power reserve and timekeeping accuracy – confirming its 65-hour reserve and impressive 0/+5 seconds per day performance across different temperatures and positions..’

Design details stay true to the Black Bay spirit. The anodised aluminium and stainless-steel bezel rotates unidirectionally, while the satin-finished, domed burgundy dial is accented with Tudor’s iconic “snowflake” hands, first introduced in 1969, filled with Super-LumiNova for legibility. A lollipop seconds hand, redesigned crown and lower-profile caseband round out the upgrades.
Inside, the watch is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5400-U, Tudor’s in-house, self- winding movement certified by COSC and Metas. A silicon balance spring ups its resistance to magnetism, while a bidirectional rotor system keeps it efficiently wound during wear. The Black Bay 58 Burgundy also offers more ways to wear it, with a choice of a stainless-steel five-link bracelet, a classic “rivet-style” three-link bracelet, or a fitted black rubber strap – all equipped with Tudor’s “T-fit” clasp system for easy, tool-free adjustments across five positions and up to 8mm. Ceramic ball bearings, meanwhile, keep things running smoothly. The Black Bay 58 Burgundy refines a modern classic – and raises the bar for Tudor’s next chapter.
