The Feathered Nest in Nether Westcote
The beautiful gardens of The Feathered Nest

One of the Cotswolds’ most picturesque inns has a dynamic new chef and a beautiful new cottage to stay in, making it the ideal weekend break.

The Feathered Nest in the heart of the Cotswolds must have one of the most beautiful settings of any pub in England. Its lush green gardens seem to continue forever with a view stretching for miles over the Evenlode Valley. On a sunny evening the sun lingers over the garden and outdoor terrace until the shadows of guests lounging in deck chairs and plush sofas grow long.

The Feathered Nest is a historic countryside inn in Nether Westcote offering comfortable accommodation alongside really great food and drink and incredibly friendly staff. Chef Matt Weedon recently took over in the kitchen, bringing with him his extensive experience cooking at the UK’s finest country houses. His focus is on outstanding food crafted from locally sourced ingredients and offering everything from a tasting menu to a great burger.

A trip to The Feathered Nest just to try the food would make a great day out, but those looking to make a wonderful weekend of it should reserve a room at the inn. The Feathered Nest has recently opened The Cottage for guests to stay in, adjacent to the pub and full of gorgeous touches to make your stay even more special. On the original deeds to the property, the cottage was marked as the “little house” and, true to its name, it is a compact home from home, with everything you might need for a night away. The Cottage has two floors, including a sumptuous living area with an open fireplace and sofa bed, a small kitchen with a hob and fridge, and upstairs, a gorgeous bathroom with large bath and Bramley products and a large open-plan bedroom with a king bed and luxurious linens. Dog lovers rejoice – your pup is also invited on your countryside weekend away as The Cottage accepts canine guests for a small fee.

Waking up to the sound of the Cotswolds and the sun gently rising over the lush green surroundings is a wonderfully bucolic way to start the day, made even more special by indulging in a full English breakfast in The Feathered Nest dining room.

The Cottage at The Feathered Nest starts at £465 a night and sleeps a maximum of four people. A six-course tasting menu at The Feathered Nest is £80 and a wine pairing is £45.
