DO GOOD at Bicester Village

The third iteration of the DO GOOD programme, which collaborates with local organisations to tackle problems suffered by women and children in communities throughout the world, is currently taking place at the luxury retail destination, Bicester Village.

A pop-up shop there is donating 100 per cent of sales to women in countries presently affected by conflict. On offer is a curation of both vintage and new designer pieces from brands including Aligne, Borgo de Nor, Dear Frances, Oliver Bonas, Jenny Packham and Missoma (dates dependent).

Running the space until 18 September is Women for Women International. The non-profit organisation has spent 30 years helping female survivors of war and conflict by establishing support networks, equipping them with skills conducive to earning an income, and providing knowledge about their health and rights. To date it has invested in over 530,000 women from 14 countries.

Managing director Sara Bowcutt says, ‘We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Bicester Village and their DO GOOD programme by hosting a pop-up. With over 25 live conflicts taking place globally, there has never been a more important time to come together as a community to support women living in some of the world’s most dangerous places. This is a wonderful opportunity to shop for good and 100 per cent of funds raised will go to our work with women-survivors of war.’

Smart Works will take over the space from 21 September to 4 October. It has spent a decade helping unemployed women find work by giving them the clothes, coaching and the confidence they need to be successful at interviews and, in turn, remain independent for the rest of their lives. So far it has helped over 30,000 women throughout the UK.

CEO Kate Stephens says, ‘At the heart of Smart Works is the belief that fashion can be used as a force for good. We know that when a woman looks and feels great about who she is, she can change her life. We are proud to have worked with Bicester Village and have raised over £300,000 to support unemployed women to get the job and transform their lives.’

Chantal Khoueiry, chief culture officer at The Bicester Village Shopping Collection, has called the participating charities ‘two incredible organisations making a sustainable difference. With every purchase, our guests will transform women’s lives as 100 per cent of the proceeds directly impact these charities, inspiring positive change that has a ripple effect around the globe’.
