To celebrate its 110th anniversary, Aston Martin has revealed the world’s first super tourer, the DB12. It welcomed Brummell to its modern global headquarters in Gaydon, England, to witness the launch.
Opened in 2008, the manufacturing site has – for the first time in the marque’s history – incorporated the Design Studio into the same location, allowing for a more seamless journey from the first sketch of a car to its latest test drive.

‘This studio is about creating desire and making people fall in love with the object we create,’ said chief creative officer Marek Reichman, who introduced us to his team.
‘Everything starts with proportion,’ he added, pointing to the ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras and themathematical component found in beauty. Reichman mentioned the golden ratio of the design process, which helped to give the car harmony, balance and its distinctive sporty stance. ‘As an ultra-luxury performance brand, we praise the emotion of movement.’
Named after David Brown – the pioneering tractor manufacturer who bought the company in 1947 and made it a global success – the DB also marks its 75th anniversary this year. The new DB12 combines high performance – assured by an outstanding 680PS/800NM V8 Twin-Turbo powertrain – and luxurious hand-crafted interiors. A new bespoke infotainment multiscreen system offers a high-tech driving experience. However, it’s still possible to interact physically with the car through analogue controls. Dynamism and potency are reflected in the exterior, too, with a more athletic physique, giving a bold and impactful look to the super tourer.

The research of top-range materials and craftsmanship are key pillars in Aston Martin’s DNA, added Leighanne Earley, creative director of interiors, who proudly explained the brand’s ongoing partnership with Bridge of Weir – a fine automotive leather supplier based in Scotland, which specialises in innovative sustainable practices.
Walking around the Gaydon Design Studio, it is impossible to miss the meticulous attention to detail and the invaluable know-how that makes Aston Martin a leader in the car industry. ‘Like a Savile Row suit, we strive to design a car meant to perfectly fit our customers,’ Reichman commented. We couldn’t agree more.
