Creative director and founder of JW Anderson and creative director of Loewe, Jonathan Anderson curates the re-opening of Ruinart’s one-bedroom hotel, named after the year the world’s first champagne house was born – Hotel 1729.
The Notting Hill-based pop-up hotel will not only offer guests an insight into Anderson’s stunning personal art collection – the selection of artwork displayed closely follows Ruinart’s philosophy of vivre est un art (living as an art) – but also allows guests to experience a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Recreating a painting from 1735 known as Le Déjeuner d’Huîtres, which depicts the first champagne bottle in art history, Anderson has hand selected both modern and vintage glassware and crockery for his modernised version of this classic scene, sourcing pieces from around the globe.

Guests will be guided through the hotel by Ruinart’s maître d’hospitalité, Olivier Livoir, before taking a seat to enjoy dinner inspired by an opulent and elegant 18th-century dining concept and prepared by chef Luke Selby. The package includes pick-up and drop-off from any Central London location in a new BMW 7 Series, overnight accommodation, breakfast and dinner for two paired with Ruinart champagne, as well as the option to invite up to six guests for the dinner experience at an additional cost.
Hotel 1729 is open from 4 – 14 July, for one-night stays only. Guests can be invited to the dinner at an additional cost of £160 per guest. To book, visit clos19.com/ruinarthotel1729
