The new Bremont U-2/51-JET watch is making its big-screen debut in Tom Hardy’s new dark and gritty Venom.

The film, to be released in October 2018, will see Hardy play the main character, reporter Eddie Brock, who is inhabited by the terrifying Venom. Fitting with the dark and sombre tone of the film, the new stealthy Bremont timepiece can be seen throughout, adorning his wrist.

The U-2/51-JET takes design cues from Bremont’s military work commissioned by the RAF’s 100 Squadron to complement its Hawk T1 Jet aircraft. The aircraft’s stealthy appearance influenced the design of this jet-black timepiece complete with black smoked-glass open caseback through which the automatic movement is visible.

‘The jet black, synonymous with the RAF 100 Squadron, has certainly made the U-2/51-JET Bremont’s stealthiest watch to date, which we felt lent itself to the darker side of the film,’ says Bremont co-founder Nick English. ‘We’re honoured to have Eddie Brock, played by Tom, wearing our watch throughout and we’re incredibly excited to see the finished product in October.’

In conjunction with the film’s release, Bremont has teamed up with comic artist and aviation enthusiast Adi Granov to paint the Bremont Broussard, a 1950s French military aircraft owned by the brand.

Inspired by the striking shark-tooth designs seen on the noses of World War II fighter planes, Granov gave the Broussard a Venom makeover, with a depiction of the character, known for his menacing teeth, around the radial engine, combined with a blacked-out fuselage. With aviation deeply rooted in Bremont’s DNA, it was the perfect way for the brand to bring Venom to life.
