Bags of style: Gleneagles & Co

Gleneagles & Co’s handcrafted leather goods evoke the glamorous golden era of railway travel

Gleneagles & Co has expanded its range of lifestyle products with a collection of beautifully designed, handcrafted leather goods. Produced in collaboration with two stalwarts of British fine leather manufacturing, Tusting and Launer London, the collection encompasses an array of designs to suit both business and leisure pursuits, including handbags, holdalls, folio cases, wallets, purses, luggage tags and tech cases; in rich shades of dark navy, chocolate brown and teal.

Designer Hanna Ter Meulen looked to the golden age of train travel for inspiration: a reference to Gleneagles’ heritage as an iconic railway hotel. Built in the 1920s by Donald Matheson, the former general manager of the Caledonian Railway Company, the luxury resort was designed to take advantage of the picturesque countryside through which the railway line ran, and became a popular destination for high society, described as ‘a Riviera in the Highlands’.

Gleneagles & Co is a new lifestyle brand, created by Gleneagles to celebrate British produce and craftsmanship. The leather goods collection is a new product line, joining a range of fine foods, such as biscuits, cakes and preserves, from Scottish artisan producers. Gleneagles & Co fine foods and leather goods are available to purchase from the resort’s retail arcade, or online boutique. Prices start from £65.
