As television becomes even more cinematic and the joy of staying in takes over this winter, it is imperative to have the equipment to make sure you’re experiencing home entertainment at its best. Gone are the days, too, when a living room full of boxy plastic equipment could be tolerated in the pursuit of immersing yourself in a good film or show. Happily, the ultimate sonic solution has just been released by Danish audio expert Bang & Olufsen with the launch of Beosound Theatre. This gorgeously and innovatively crafted soundbar manages to create a multi-speaker experience in just one product.
‘Beosound Theatre completely redefines cinematic sound in the home. With its powerful sound, advanced technology platform and modular design, we bring the immersion of a multi-speaker set-up in to one soundbar that slots seamlessly with any screen,’ said Kristian Teär, CEO of Bang & Olufsen.

To create the experience of many speakers in just one soundbar, the Beosound Theatre comes with 12 speaker drivers, including two custom-made high-power woofers and 800 watts of amplification power, providing up to 112dB sound pressure level. As it’s made for entertainment, speech clarity is central to the Beosound Theatre’s sound distribution, which has been specially aligned to make sure everyone crowding around a screen for movie night gets the best possible experience. The soundbar utilises specially developed three-dimensional sound due to speaker drivers that fire sound directly, upwards and sideways which makes the audience experience thrillingly immersive.
Although the Beosound Theatre has been designed to be a one-stop immersive sound solution, it can also be used at the centre of a larger sound set-up. ‘You can buy Beosound Theatre as a soundbar and later add a pair of rear loudspeakers such as Beolab 28 in a triangular set-up that delivers an incredible spatial sound performance, while continuing the overarching aim of minimal products, mess, and compromise in your space,’ says Bang & Olufsen senior technology specialist Jakob Dyreby.

What’s more, the Beosound Theatre looks fantastic: designed to slot in below almost any flat-screen television, the soundbar has been crafted to evoke the look of a sailboat, curved and perfectly balanced on a shining keel. The soundbar comes finished with clipped oak panels, or in a fabric finish for a softer look.
The Beosound Theatre has been designed to fit with almost any television, meaning that it can be adapted to work with new TV sets as and when customers upgrade by the extension of its aluminium “wings”. As Bang & Olufsen’s head of product circularity, Mads Kogsgaard Hansen says: ‘We know that our customers want to invest in products that last, which is why Beosound Theatre has been modularly designed to outlast many TVs in its lifetime. We have made a solution that enables you to update your product rather than replace it, and a product that can evolve with you over time.’
A soundbar that provides unbeatable sound on its own, or with other products, looks fantastic and can adapt with your home set up? It’s music to our ears. And if you want to carry the unbeatable quality of Bang & Olufsen on the go – for music, movies, podcasts and television while travelling, the Beoplay EX noise-cancelling earphones make the perfect addition to a sound connoisseur’s audio set-up.
