Bompas & Parr will open Butterfly Biosphere: Pleasures of the Nectar Dome Thursday 5 September

A unique new experience in lepidopterarium at Mayfair’s Grosvenor Square will allow visitors to get up close and personal with some of nature’s most beautiful, and frequently overlooked, pollinators. Not only does the free event come with plenty of photo ops, but will also provide the public with essential background knowledge on the colourful creatures.

Starting off by trying some fruit nectar for themselves, visitors will then be guided to the Butterfly Biosphere and greeted by a wildlife guardian, who will provide an insight into the life of butterflies. The experience highlights the fact that London’s butterfly population has plummeted by 76 per cent over the past four decades, and guests will be educated on what part they can play to improve conditions for butterflies in the city. There will be opportunities to watch the butterflies hatch, visit feeding tables to observe them up close, and those that are looking to support the efforts can donate to conservation initiatives.

With a classic Bompas & Parr approach, the lepidopterarium will feature pink lighting and iridescent decor to add to the experience, while guests receive rainbow spectacles and a perfectly positioned throne allows for selfies with an impressive set of wings. Whether with family or friends, if you’re looking for something different this September, this is the place to be.

Butterfly Biosphere: Pleasures of the Nectar Dome will run from Thursday 5 September to Sunday 15 September from 10am-7pm daily and is free to attend; mayfairandbelgravia.com/butterflies
