Brummell Winter 2019

In this philanthropy issue of Brummell we talk to Nick Lyth, founder and CEO of Green Angel Syndicate, the only British angel investment company specialising in the fight against global warming and climate change. Writer Amy Raphael describes how she wanted to help keep the conversation about displaced people going, and so, addressing the fact that football is a global sport that unites and shares a global language, she created a book, A Game Of Two Halves, comprising interviews by well-known fans with their footballing heroes – with proceeds going to UNHCR.

Meanwhile, 83-year-old golf legend Gary Player tells us about his foundation, which continues to raise money to help lift children out of poverty. ‘In South Africa we built two schools,’ he says. ‘We want to do something for homeless people. These same people who were sleeping in the streets are becoming doctors and lawyers.’

Elsewhere in the issue we look at how luxury watch brands are reaching out, hands across the seas, in philanthropic partnerships to help disadvantaged people and the planet; we go searching for the elusive black leopard in Kenya; we talk to renowned fashion designer turned interiors specialist Matthew Williamson about style sense and sustainability; and we round up a selection of indulgent accessories that will make gifting and receiving a pleasure.

We hope you give as good as you get this holiday and wish you sybaritic seasonal celebrations and a happy and altruistic new year.
